DVConnect

DVConnect exists to help Queenslanders escape domestic, family, and sexual violence by providing crisis helplines, as well as emergency transport and accommodation away from violence. DVConnect is a not-for-profit organisation that has provided state-wide specialist domestic, family, and sexual violence crisis counselling, intervention, information, safety planning, and pathways to safety for almost 20 years.

QLD Police Domestic Violence Service

1800RESPECT is a confidential service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They provide support for:

  • People experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, sexual assault, domestic or family violence
  • Their friends and family
  • Workers and professionals supporting someone experiencing, or at risk of experiencing sexual assault, domestic or family violence

CASA

CASA is unique in Mackay in that it combines housing provision with housing support services in the one organisation.

CASA’s vision is to have functioning households, stable families, and individuals in sustainable and affordable housing. CASA assists in supporting disadvantaged people in the Mackay community.

DVConnect Mensline

DVConnect Mensline is a free, confidential telephone counselling, referral, information, and support, service for Queenslanders identifying as male, and who may be experiencing or using domestic and family violence. This service is available 9am until midnight, 7 days a week.

MensLine Austalia

MensLine Australia is a telephone and online counselling service for men with emotional health and relationship concerns.
Support for Australian men anywhere, anytime.

The Community Legal Centres Australia

The Community Legal Centres Australia (CLCs Australia) website describes Community Legal Centres (CLCs) as an independent, not-for-profit, community-based organisations that provide a range of services to everyday people, including people experiencing discrimination and disadvantage.

Lifeline

Contact Lifeline for support if you are experiencing a personal crisis or have suicidal thoughts. You can call them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere in Australia.

Suicide Prevention Australia

Suicide Prevention Australia has been providing national leadership for Australia’s suicide prevention sector for more than 30 years.

Kids Helpline

In addition to the 24/7 support it provides it also breaks down its wide variety of information on mental health and general wellbeing concerns by age group (5-12, 13-17, 18-25, parents) making it more accessible for children and young adults.

The Neighbourhood Hub

Established in 1989, The Neighbourhood Hub services the Mackay Region, as the leading locally based neighbourhood centre. Bringing resources and partners together to provide a range of services, facilities, community activities and events connecting with community and responding to the demands of identified unmet need.

Chances Op Shop & Coffee Shop

Established in 2018, Australian Street Aid Project created Chances to assist people experiencing homeless within the Mackay Region. They always aim to find and close gaps in the homelessness sector. They are the regions only daily homelessness meal service. They also provide Street Kits, support, first aid and crisis accommodation (when funds allow).

Broken Ballerina Inc raises funds to provide assistance and support to survivors of domestic violence.

Being a non profit organisation we rely on grants, donations, fundraising events and sales of our merchandise to enable us to keep doing what we do for people suffering or escaping from domestic violence in Mackay and the Whitsundays.
